The materials I use in my work are precious metals, predominantly Sterling Silver with accents of high karat gold, fine silver, polymer clay elements and gemstones, combined using traditional metalworking techniques.
Some surfaces are embellished with 24 karat gold diffusion bonded to Fine Silver, a Korean technique known as Keum-boo.  Many pieces have been patinaed to accentuate the gold.

I hand texture most of my metal or texture it
through a rolling mill, forming it to give it depth
and visual weight.   I often work with beads which
I make out of Polymer clay or glass beads and pearls woven or braided into chains, all elements adding color and texture – taking the metalwork to another dimension.

Several years ago a friend introduced me to polymer clay and the appearance of color and
color pattern has brought a new and fresh look to my work.  With my background in painting I feel at home with color.  My newer pieces explore this medium.

MY PHILOSOPHY ABOUT THE MEDIUM

It is not what the material is worth on its own, but rather what you do with it that is of consequence.
I like to use the medium to explore different styles and interpretations. Ultimately, I do what works for the piece.
